This bike was purchased years ago from Biruni at Interbike without the electric running gear it was designed for. So we finished the job. The bike was originally spec’d with a hub motor but we fitted a mid-drive and a custom battery mount.
Motor Fitment
The BB is 86mm threaded whioch made things difficult. We custom machined a motor extended and welded it to the motor to fit it to the frame. It requies some spacers between the plate and motor. Then added a Lekkie Axle Extender to finish off the motor mounting.
Battery
We mounted a DP5 17ah on a custom bracket that was bolted to the existing battery mounting lugs. Came out very tidy in the end.
Drivetrain
Lekkie Bling Ring 01/02 42T was fitted as it had was the right gear ratio to get up the local hills but still cruise at 40kph. Great chain-line too.
