About this conversion

This bike came to us with a tired and underwhelming hub motor system on it. We removed the old kit and installed a BBS02 on it to give it some go! Required about 5 hours labor in total to remove the old kit, modify the frame and fit the new kit.

The old controller was under the “fuel tank” so pulled it all off and the tank is mainly cosmetic now.

Extra parts and modifications used for this conversion

Motor Fitment

There is a gusset that reinforces the BB housing. I could have removed a small amount of material to get the motor to fit but to get it to snug forward and cables hidden we removed most of the plate on the front side then to stop the motor rotating forward welded the locking plate onto the frame. Fit’s really snug and looks it belonged there.

Battery

Installed a few rivnuts on backside of seat tube. this is wear the original battery mounted but they did a very poor job of it so had to redo it.

Would have loved to get the battery in the “fuel tank” but it would require extra fabrication and the budget did not allow it.

Drivetrain

The drivetrain of these bikes has floors form day one. The frame get’s in the way of the chain when n the inside gear, making it unusable. To stop chain slap on the battery we designed and printed a guide.
